Kagoshima, Japan

In July of 2013, I was given the opportunity to attend the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth’s Interior (IAVCEI) meeting in Kagoshima, Japan. I presented a talk on the research that I conducted to assess the role of crustal assimilation on the oxidation state of continental arc magmas, specifically those erupted at the Central Volcanic Zone of South America. Below are some pictures of our travels in Japan, including some photos of Sakurajima Volcano that was erupting (!!!) during the conference.
